It's officially fall over here in the Philly area, and I thought off switching my usual morning cereal routine with some Semolina Porridge. It's one of those breakfast meals that exists in many variations all around the world. This is how I make it -
Ingredients
- Semolina 1/3 cup
- Milk 2 cups
- Water 1 cup
- Brown Sugar 2 teaspoons
- Butter a small sliver
- Raisins if I have them
Directions
- Pour Milk and Water in Saucepan and heat on stove over Medium flame
- Do not wait for the milk and water to reach boiling
- Sprinkle a tablespoon of Semolina over the milk and water.
- Stir for 10 to 20 seconds
- Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until you run out of Semolina to add
- Add Raisins
- Keep Stirring for the next 5 minutes or until you reach desired consistency.
- Pour in bowl
- Add butter to porridge in bowl
- Enjoy
Adding a lot of Semolina at one time will cause it to clump
Not stirring often will cause the Semolina to settle to the bottom of the saucepan and scorch and clump
Porridge always thickens as it cools. You will most likely have to repeat this recipe a couple of time in order to determine desired consistency
